Honest limitations
If corruption is caused by a failing disk, continued use can turn a logical problem into a physical one. Ransomware-encrypted files are usually not decryptable.

Will CHKDSK fix my corrupted drive?
It may make the drive readable but can also delete or rename damaged files permanently. Do not run it before recovery.
